I was at a party this weekend and almost all the people there wanted their kids to end up with government job.?

Does that mean we really want to be Communists!!!!!! I just asked the question, "what kind a job do you want your kids to get when they grow up?" Gee they seemed like nice level headed people only two already had government jobs but the rest worked for companies both big and small. Or is there something More sinister going on here? Has the American Dream become an American Joke? and people are finally saying it out loud????? So what kind of job do you wat for your kid to grow up and get?

Well, with so many jobs with reputable companies being lost due to the recession, can you really blame them? Government jobs are secure, they pay well, and they tend to have other good perks. Why does wanting your child to work for the government make you communist? You have to remember that there are thousands of... More

If that's the Uptopia, if having more Americans added to the government payroll is a good thing, why don't we ALL become employees of the "government" ? Would that be the ideal for liberals? And if that occurred, where would the money come from to pay everyone?

Nothing wrong with working for the government. General Petraeus works for the government. So did Winston Churchill and Mahatma Gandhi.

they will be the only jobs that still pay decent ,because a government doesn't have to provide any thing any one would buy ,they just take your money as there 'profits",that's how its works in the communist systems.

Hard times have made some people feel as if they cannot afford not only the basic things in life, but college as well. Affording college right now for people who don't even have a job is out of the question. Once the economy takes a real turn for the better, I'm sure some of those answers will be different.

It means that they realize that in the near future those will be the only secure jobs. With a government job you don't even have to be competent and you can't be fired. You just sit back and bilk the public.
