does an elementary school teacher make more money than a child care provider?

I am in search of a job, and these are the two jobs i've come down to. I can't decide which one i like better, so Im choosing the one that pays better.

It depends on where you live and whether you own your own day care. In general, elementary school teachers make more than day care providers. Here in Northern California, where the cost of living is high, substitute teachers make between 110 and $125 a day. 1st year teachers make between $35000 and 45,000 a year... More

Yes elem ed teachers make more but the jobs are quite different. Elem Ed. is more time consuming at home and you have more freedom with child care provider.

Alot depends on if you are going to work for someone or, work for yourself as a child care provider. While liscensing etc. would need in place and education to some degree is required, being a child care provider will pay more in the long run if you run your own daycare. You need a teaching degree to be a school teacher whereas not all child care providers have child care education diplomas. I would think the potential for a higher salary would be to choose the teaching job if you are qualified for it.
