Who do you think Reed Sorenson and Jamie McMurray will drive for in 2010?

From what I have read the Petty-Yates merger has left Reed Sorenson without a ride in 2010 and Jamie McMurray was released from Roush because Roush could not have more than 4 teams. I like both of these drivers, but I am not sure of their futures in NASCAR. I hope the mighty Mike Helton is happy displacing drivers with his 4 per team rule. He said he didn't want drivers losing their jobs and that is exactly what is happening.

I read yesterday online that McMurray will most likely drive the 1 car for Earnhardt Ganassi... More

I like both drivers, too. But I believe that they will both be racing in the Nationwide Series next year. They haven't accomplished much in the Sprint Cup series, and I think they will do better in Nationwide.

I kind of agree with KIM. The Nationwide series is a better fit for those two. What sucks is that with the RPM-Yates deal, that completely screws up Jack Roush's plan to move the 26 to Yates, unless HoF can take it up. Unfortunately, drivers losing their jobs has become the norm with our sport. Owners are always trying... More

I think Reed will wind up in Nationwide. Jamie Mac--I'm not sure. I think general opinion is that he's talented; he just chokes. There are other drivers in Cup that haven't performed well, and he could wind up replacing one of them.

With the continuing consolidation of teams, these guys are going to need some hefty decals (sponsors) to bring to the table to buy a ride at a mid-level program. They are not first-tier "free agents" who will simply step into a ride.

Reed will be in the #1 EGR car, if they can get sponsorship. Jamie, I really don't know. He might get in the team car to Gilliland, but there aren't many options.

I've been thinking Jamie would end up in the #1 car but now I'm beginning to wonder. Reed and Labonte are looking for rides next year too. There had been talks that EGR was close to a deal with McMurray but what if Labonte's situation caused them to rethink things. A veteran like Bobby Labonte would probably be more... More
