What's the best way to build multi engine time cheaply?

Is becoming an MEI pretty much the only way? Or are there other ways? I'm talking about 500 hours -- a good chunk of time. Will small charter or corporate outfits hire you with hardly any multi time and allow you to build time by flying their aircraft? I eventually want to fly for a corporate jet company but they all seem to require an ATP, 2500 hours total, 500 hours multi, and 250 hours instrument. That, of course, is when they are hiring at all.

I have never had an MEI, due to the fact that the insurance company for the school I instructed at required 250 hrs M/E before I was allowed to... More
