my hard drive is is clicking?

HI, we have recently had a problem with the hard drive were we couldn't see the data. so we sent it off to a recovery data company who emailed us saying they have to send it to their specialists who would charge 500 Pound so we asked them to send it back since this the hard drive is clicking and the computer now Cannot see the hard drive on the pc is their anything we could do?

If S.M.A.R.T. option for disk drives enabled on BIOS, then install some diagnostic software on your operating sytem that will fetch SMART log for a check on error tolerance and, 500 seagate is clicking really hard sometimes since i have purchased it, use that software on standby mode, it may also show you disk... Try adding it as a slave to another PC and get all your files off of it, it's about to die :(

It's not being detected, it's clicking. Sounds like a mechanical failure. Sorry, I believe it's gone :(

that is why you should back up your files if they are important to you before you have problems and 500 pounds is a good price i learned 20 years ago to backup,backup,backup to disk and cd or flash drive when they came out
