Do you think robots make the bulk of mechanical engineer jobs obsolete in the near future?

probably not the assemblers on production lines, yes robots in a broader therm like CAD software's, yes it will not extinguish engineers but will drastically reduce the quantity required Anita

Yeah, robots just make the bulk. It's always been that way and it always will in all probability stay that way, too

Not likely since robots really can think in the way a human can. That goes double for any engineer. Mechanical engineers think they do not turn wrenches for a living.

That's actually the most rhetorical question I've ever heard. Who do you think makes, maintains and designs all these robots? Drum roll please... Mechanical Engineers. lol.. But, maybe in the future you'll have robots that make that robots, so who knows!
