How much money will it take to get US Citizens out to do the jobs illegals do?
The excuse they use is that those jobs don't pay enough, so how much money would it take to get US Citizens out to picking oranges, harvesting watermelon, or lettuce? Tara, 90% of the US winter vegies and crops come from Yuma, AZ. Look it up. ibguru, do you have any links? mikea, you are dodging the question. How much mone will it take?

Well in Australia we can't get anywhere near enough people to do it for $20/hr if that's any guide (we have very few illegals here).

You are forgetting that most of illegals get paid under the table, so they do not have taxes taken out. Americans would have taxes taken out, so they would get even less!! Americans did those jobs before illegals invaded this country! Thanks

Greasy, if there were any shortages of agricultural workers, wages would be rising. According to the USDA, average wages for agricultural households were around $13,000 a year, which is way below poverty level. For that matter, we have well over 12 million illegal aliens in this country, but a total agricultural work... More

That's exactly what it is... an excuse, and many believe it. I moved to Phoenix about a year ago, jobs were hard to find so I took a job working for Fry's (grocery). I and many other U.S. citizens working there were paid minimum wage ($7.25 hr). At the same time Sheriff Joe made an immigration sweep at a paper company... More

The market rate will be sufficient, which we can't really know unless the illegals leave. Americans were doing these jobs 30 years ago before the invasion. They are doing them now, just with less people. I will do farm work part time for 15$ an hour cash, no taxes, just like the illegal invaders. Some need more and... More

1) Less than 2% of illegal aliens work in the agriculture sector. They do NOT process enough food to feed themselves and the other 98% of the illegal, immoral, criminal invaders. That means that US workers have to process the food to feed the illegal, immoral, criminal invaders... More

I think if they paid at least 12.50 an hour, they could get unskilled Americans, teenagers and maybe some college students to do this part time. They could even get people who are doing light jail time to do this type of work to pay towards their sentences. They don't have to hire illegals. Companies are just plain... More
