I am a jew and have to work on saturday and Its killing me inside. What can I do?
I used to build swimming pools for 19yrs until a divorce and the economy went bust. It took me a year to find this lousy car sales job and now I cant even worship on sabbath. I just don't know what to do, I have asked for saturdays off because of my faith but they just don't care. Any Jewish impute would be greatly appreciated.

I thought you worshiped on Friday. That's always when my dad went. I guess it's not as bad as eating pork, shellfish, or other bottom feeders. I'm sorry I don't know your religious practices better--my mom wasn't Jewish, so dad really kept his beliefs to himself.

God does not care what day you worship him/her, just as long as you do. (That's my opinion anyway.)

My dad, who practices judaism, realizes that his faith comes only after he brings home the bacon. The reality of it is, is even if your faith tells you that you should honor a specific date (in the case of Judaism, Saturday) you still have to rationalize your priorities. I am sure that by asking this, you must be a... More

We have a standard form that is based on the Freedom of Religion Act that you can get and fill it in from your computer and take it to your boss. It's not a threat, just a reminder that there IS a bill that has passed CONGRESS that should allow you to worship at your own free will.
