What can employers find out by calling a place you got fired from for employment verification?
I got fired from a job about 3 years ago, but since I worked there for over 3 years I still like to use it on a resume. What I want to know is legally, what can future employers find out from my old job? Should I not be putting this job on my resume? Basically its the only job on my resume that was an "important" and professional job and I don't want people to know that I got fired and especially the reason I got fired.

Usually they can tell anything that doesn't have a law component to it. That is if you stole something, but they have no proof, then they can't say that you were fired for stealing legally. If they just disliked you because of you dress code, absence or lateness, they can say so and there isn't much you can do. Only... More
