How is the job market for actuaries in this economy?
Two years ago, I heard actuaries claim that their field had virtually 0% unemployment because there were so few qualified people. Is that still true or have insurance companies and consulting firms frozen their hiring, too?

for actuaries, the demand will always be very high because the supply is always low. actuarial science is a very specialized field requiring exceptional math skills and not many average "joe citizen" can fit the bill... More

I used to work with actuaries and I can say that accredited actuaries are in high demand. It is difficult for companies to find actuaries to fill their positions. If you are thinking about going into this field I think you should. Take all the necessary tests to become accredited and you can almost write your own... More
