Lab Tech/Phlebotomy degree or Clinical Lab Tech degree?

I am currently one semester away from getting a very general Lab Tech assistant diploma from a tech college. After completing this I was going to take a semester of phlebotomy and try to get a job in this area. I am 41 yrs old and lost my job of 17 yrs last December which is why I am in school. I just found out that through a govt. funded program I can go for my Clinical Lab Tech associate degree and get it paid for plus unemployment while I'm going to school. My biggest concern is if I would be getting into something that I can't keep up good grades in. As of now I am taking Gen., Org., and Biological chem., Beginning Lab skills, statistics, and some generals in which I am getting all high B low A grades. The classes that scare me are the advanced chem. and the microbiology classes. I am doing alright in chem now, but its not an advanced chem. and my instructor seems pretty easy going. Any advice/thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
