Is the electricity and internet efficient in Egypt?

I am about to move to Alexandria Egypt and I am concerned about my Web developer Job. Which I do online. Is there high speed internet in Egypt and if so whats the cost and Speed. Also is stable or does it go in and out. Lastly, is the power supply something to worry about in Egypt. I mean I heard stories of people burning out appliances because of the power surges. Does that happen or is that just a rumor, and if its not a rumor do i need a surge protector. Thanks for your help people
