What does a healthcare administration manager do?

	What does a healthcare administration manager do? I'm thinking of going to grad school for a Community Health - Health Care Policy and Administration M.P.H. What does this job entail? I know it has to do with managing the money of the hospital, but what, more specficially, does this employee do? What is the job title? What would be a typical day in the life? Generally is the manager of the business side of a health care facility like a hospital. Makes sure the money is well spent on personnel, equipment, machinery. Oversees the scheduling of operating rooms, conference rooms, medical conferences. Determines what is needed and presents the case for the financing and purchasing. Is in charge of the non-medical operation of the facility. Would delegate many of the daily operational tasks. nPrepares and manages the budget. Answered By: Cave Creek - 12/4/2009

Does related work as required. In consultation and responsible coordination with administration, faculty and consultant architect and engineers, plans and directs the development of such a hospital; upon its completion, acts as operational administrator and coordinator of the complex; develops an effective team of medical, allied health professionals and others who work in the hospital and sees that supporting facilities, services and equipment are available for the needs of the teaching, research and patient activities of the health science center; copes with the many complex, emergency and unexpected demands which arise daily in a hospital of this kind; serves on a variety of health science center and other councils and committees; keeps pace with the latest developments in hospital administration and assures the highest level of operating efficiency, quality and economy within the hospital to bring about the lowest possible cost to the consumer; works closely with the chiefs of services, faculty, house staff and directors of the affiliated hospitals in the area so all operate as a whole in support of the health science center's program; directs many programs unique to this kind of hospital, such as in-patient and out-patient care coordination, a variety of other services rendered patients, hospital floor management, administration of a computing center, relations with the center's business office in such areas as patient charges, billing, collection, third party payments and purchasing, the assurance of high quality and sterile housekeeping and operation and maintenance of plant, personnel management, public relations, volunteer services, and other sensitive programs, so the life and care of the injured and frequently quite ill patients are maintained and enhanced; is responsible for the hospital's accreditation; represents the hospital in the community...........

	Why do people b***h when corporations send jobs overseas? Don't people understand that corporations are in business to make money. They are going to employ people where the cheapest labor is available. CORPORATIONS AREN'T CHARITIES. If people think that corporations like Wal Mart make so much money, why don't they buy stock in Wal-Mart. 	Why do people say corporate jobs are better than government jobs? Corporations are elitist and extremely picking during the hiring process. They fire hundreds of people every time there's a recession and think nothing of it. You can't advance without some pain in the butt graduate degree. Yes, you can make good money if you defeat the competition and make it up the ladder. The government isn't nearly that bad.
