What is the cheapest way to travel to Bangkok?

I'm open to courier jobs, auctions, etc. The cheapest I've found is about $1070 for mid-Feb, 2010. Any help is appreciated. I'm traveling from Memphis, TN. Sorry, I figured the cost from any US major city would be about the same.

The cheapest way to travel to Bangkok is to start just outside the city and catch a bus in. Now if you want to let us know where you are starting from we won't have to guess will we?
