how much should a garage opener cost including installation by independent pro?

I am learning you have to buy the drive, opener, remotes, railing, etc....does that all come with it and is Marantac a good brand? Also, I was wondering if I should have gone thru a store in case it breaks down.

It depends in terms of what comes with what you buy. Most will come with the opener, a safety sensor, at least 1 remote and one wall operator. some will come with additional lights and outlets but it dependeds. Some will also come with the railing included. You are looking at a base price of between $150-$250... More

You can get a pretty good garage door opener for $200-250 from your local hardware store. We installed one at our first house and it took 2-3 hours by ourselves. In our second house, we paid the builder to install and the cost was around $500. Good Luck!

I would go with sears 1/2 H,P.Chain drive you should get 2 remotes wall button, and sears has a good repair record and that is what you need if you don't know how to work on the operator your self and most home owner don't, the cost I don't know where you live so that is hard to guess Good Luck
