Any ideas for a cheaper 30-06 rifle?

I'm looking for a cheaper 30-06 rifle, nothing special, just something that will get the job done without emptying my wallet. I like bolt action, but anything will do really.

Weatherby Synthetic stock Vanguard is selling nationally for $399, it is a gem of a gun, and might be a better dollar/value rifle than even the entry level Savage. The Vanguard / Howa 1500 is the basis for a lot of long range and bench shooting rifles because it uses a rectangular forged action/trigger guard one piece... More

To be honest and kind of mean, start talking to people that you know that are down on there luck. With the way the economy and job losses have been going I have been picking up some really nice rifles for very little cash. I don't feel good for doing it, but atleast the rifles are going to be taken care of

I would suggest the Savage Arms Model 111 FNS, which is bolt action. This gun is great and has a good suggested retail price of only $591!

Get a Mosin Nagant 91/30 it shoots 7.62x54R which is about the same size as a 30-06 and they can be bought for like $110 - $140

Savage makes some great rifles that don't break the bank, and are known for out of the box accuracy. Their basic ones retail for somewhere around $400 give or take, and go up according to various finishes and features.. Stevens is their budget line and cost a little less, they are the same thing with a duller finish... More

Well you didn't say cheaper than what, or what job it needed to do. That being said the Remington 710 can be found used in the 300 dollar range, and is a decent rifle. I would caution against the current model 770. I have handled it and it can say it is the poorest quality rifle I have ever seen. Each major... More

Well, I don't know if you have a Gander Mountain by you, if so check out their used rifle selection. I bought my Savage 30-06 there for only $200 bucks. I do know Mossberg has a rifle for like $300 bucks new at Wal Mart. But i'm not sure if they offer 30-06 caliber. That's pretty much as low as you can go without... More
