What are things that I can do by being in security forces in the Air Force?

When I tell people that that is what I am going to do they say, "oh sorry to hear that or that sucks" so what is so horrible about it? Also, what exactly does security forces do, because now I think I am confused?

Lots of different things such as K9 dog handler, nuclear security, phoenix raven, counter sniper, investigations, swat... You really should talk to a recruiter to see all the possibilities. Good luck to you! I too am leaving for SF, and I'm going for Phoenix Ravens.

security forces are mainly responsible for the overall security of the base. they patrol the flight line where the aircraft are parked and around the hangers, and patrol the base perimeter fence or get assigned to an entrance/exit gate on the base. keep in mind you will do this in all kinds of weather, either walking... Unfortunately SF requires only a low ASFAB score and half of the people you will work with did not want to be SF so you will work with some very bright and hard working airman and many who should...
