do you ever worry ; what if i lose everything i have?
im 32 have generalised anxiety and ocd and i often sit here in my apartment at night and worry ; what if i lose what little i have ? not that i have much really, except my apartment , a roof over my head , an old computer , books, a few dvds and cds. not much , i live on disability, dont get much, government pay my rent . dont live in a rough area - i value the bit of security i have at least. ive had a lot of bad luck and fckd up many times in life, squandered away time , opportunities - so i missed out on all the normal life events like : building ' any ' relationships , getting a job, getting qualifications and most things - have a long psychiatric record , have a criminal record. but thats in the past , ive been doing well for years, working on my psychological difficulties amidsts an underfunded mental health service. my hopes in life are to somehow attain a good salary computer job, build some meaningful relations and move to a quiet coastal village near the sea. buy my own home. i sit here often and worry : what if i lose what little i have ? what if theres a war or revolution, anarchy , an invasion of england, an earthquake - all events which could take away everything i have.. i even become angry sometimes or snap if the news stories are to bleak with the economy or wars, i feel like threatening the news reader through clenched teeth , because they ruined my day with grim tidings. does anyone else have these manic worries ? of losing everything you have ? how do you deal with it ?

Stop trying to control everything in your life and just let go. You can only find happiness when you truly stop caring. First you have to know, not fear... KNOW that someday you are gonna die.

I have the same fears. I'm afraid of losing the friendship I have with my parents, I'm afraid of losing my best friends (which seems quite inevitable, unfortunately) and I'm also afraid of losing things I've never had such as a stable, loving relationship. I'm afraid I'll end up alone in this world and that scares me... More
