What are the duties of an lpn opposed to an rn?

Do lpn administer shots and give medication? Where do they often work? Is there a challenge to the job? Are there any disadvantages? What do rn perform that put them above lpn and make it more seemingly of a job to people? Personal details appreciated.

IN my area LPNs can not do nursing assessments or triage; which is what knocks them out of most jobs. They also can not do IV push, hang blood, do IV therapy stuff like that.
