What kind of doctor makes good money?

I was wondering what type of doctors make good money but actually have a family life and don't spend their whole day at work. Is a veterinarian a good job for someone who wants to spend time with his family?

Regular doctors make good money. So do dentists and veterinarians. However, surgeons are the ones that get the most money. An average surgeon gets paid half a million dollars every year!

If you are looking for a 9-5 job, stay far away from medicine. There are plenty of good jobs that do not require the dedication that being a physician does. Maybe becoming a dentist would suit your lifestyle?

vets don't make much money at all when you compare them to MD. The typical general practioner makes 65,000 out of school. A specialist may reach around 150,000. The typical general practioner will work more than 50 hours a week and some of that can include nights and weekends. Specialists may have a better schedule... More
