What do some comanies especially large ones do this?

Almost every job i've applied for in my life has asked me for a CV. I don't mind that by you go through the whole interview process and when you finally get the job on your first day every employee is asked to fill out an application form by hand again and it's an exact replica of a CV!!!! Why do companies do this? I just don't understand why they need your CV again by hand if you're already after giving them one typed up?
