Do homeless people offer any benefit to society?

Honestly, this question was asked before, about a year ago by someone else. Yet i'm not convinced. Do they do anything (for example: recycle, take cheap jobs for little money or food, ect.)

Homeless people are great for society. yes, they take cheap jobs. They buy a whole lot of booze and help support the local liqueur stores. They fill our emergency rooms and welfare systems thereby providing jobs to millions of doctors, social workers and government officials. Cities can flaunt their homeless... More

They keep Social Workers busy trying to help them. It gives "liberals" something to do to always want to help someone who lives on handouts and has no intention of changing.

I suppose it could be argued that they, as prisons do, warn youngsters not to take the road that leads there.

What you should ask yourself is, if society had done a better job, maybe they wouldn't be homeless now? Many homeless are mentally ill or addicts. They are incapable of properly caring for themselves and they didn't become that way overnight.

Most homeless people are hard-working members of society who've fallen off the wagon most of us are riding. Our society seems to work against them in many respects, however. Once you lose your job, lose your car, and have no family to rely on, it's nearly impossible to get back into a stable position in society.

If they were treated with a little respect and kindness instead of shunned and ignored and called 'bums' they could be a bigger asset. It is all up to us and our attitude towards those less fortunate than us. They might no have much but most share what they have with each other.
