What do most teachers do during the summer?

Also, what is a good summer job for teachers that want to work somewhere other than where they live while they have the summer off?

What a great question! I teach middle school during the regular school year, and during the summer, I teach high school - summer school. These are students who didn't fair well during the year and have to make up classes in order to get their credits. I have half of the day to teach and I'm home no later than 1:00... More

Lots of teachers use the summer to take courses or participate in similar workshops or programs during the summer. Teachers also use the time (usually at the end of the summer) to work on specific work for their classrooms. Don't get me wrong though; teachers usually also use the summers to vacation and relax... Benton F is right. We do not get paid for the entire 12 months. I have three kids of my own, so I like to spend time with them in the summer. I also present at and attend various workshops throughout the summer. While at home, I research online to find ideas for my team of first grade teachers and our students.
