Is in India still a caste system?

What's the cast system ? I know that the persons where divided into classes. But who were the lower and who the higher classes ? Is there still a cast system ?

Yes...it is there....i am a victim of it...i loved a girl from different caste...everything on both sides is good except the caste...even though both are from two different higher castes...difference is there to make us apart...caste discrimination is increasing day by day and i expect a caste civil wars in future.Hope... A social structure in which classes are determined by heredity.The caste stratification of the Indian society had its origin in the chaturvarna system.According to this doctrine the Hindu society was divided into four main varnas - Brahmins, Kashtriyas, Vaishyas and Shudras.It is still in force in some part of India.

The Caste system still does exist but not looked upon at so much as it was 60 years ago! Younger generation don't care to which community or caste they belong to, most of them have become the outside of the box thinkers!
