Chances are it's an electrical problem. Could be a simple as a fuse. But the motor could have burnt out. If the motor is heavily loaded it draws a lot of current, and as it's not rotating as fast, it doesn't get as much cooling air, and that tend to cause overheating. Do you smell burning insulation? Then the windings are gone. Or did you burn out the bearings from too much side pressure? Can you turn it by hand? .

It could be possible that you put too much contact force on the steel being cut, such that the corresponding torque due to the force of kinetic friction is greater than the motor can deliver. Relax the contact force you apply and try again.

The motor may have a thermal cutout that trips if the motor overheats. Let it cool and look for a reset button.
