The term, "Cook" is a broader meaning. It could be given to pretty much anyone who works in a kitchen. The term "short order cook" is not really used anymore in restaurants. "Line cook" is the term used these days. However, the term does imply that this is a line cook who is required to cook food in a short amount of time. short order cook, like they say, except the long drawn out explanations TOO MUCH INFORMATION PEOPLE... Short order is usually easy & greasy, AKA pub grub! mostly grills & fries..
