Do you think Computers will take over Accountants jobs?

I was just curious about this topic. Do you think it is a waste for someone to get an Accounting Degree Vs. a Computer Science Degree. I mean if you think about it, won't computers take over Accountants jobs? I know it may sound stupid. I was just trying to figure out what I should major in. But, I don't wanna waste my time if it wil happen in the future when I'm 40 or 50 years old. What do you think. honest answers please.

Accounting often involves allot of judgment that computers can't copy so I wouldn't worry too much about that. However, there will be more competition in the future from countries like India and China for accounting jobs in the U.S. You should actually be more concerned with accounting jobs being outsourced to India... Eventually. You see programs like Turbo Tax and Automated Tax Filing Software that eliminate the task of companies needing CPA's, and I think it would be a safe assumption to think its hurting the industry.

if it will it would have happened by now. computers are so advanced today it's not funny. if they would take over an accountant's job, then it would have been done by now. like another person said turbotax makes it easy to enter information, but you still need to enter information somehow.
