How would I go about converting a collage degree?

I want to know what the steps are to converting an English degree for use in japan, and what visas I need to live and teach English there. I would also like to know if it'll be easier studing abroud or just studying here and converting. The most through answer gets 10 points of course. Oh, and I live in the US. Yes, I know I spelled college wrong; now help me!
