is multiplan medical insurance a scam?

my husband lost his job we are without health insurance I don't qualify for medicaid. I went online to look for other programs that will helpg pregnant women I am due 4/26 and need coverage asap they said they would help but I'm afraid of being scammed anyone ever hear of them or know of another route to take? I live in Utah.

Multiplan is a company that provides a doctor network. Many different insurance companies use their network of providers rather than developing their own network. As such, many insurance companies use "multiplan" as part of their name. There is no way to tell that it is not a scam without further information. However... More

I received a call this morning from a woman who only gave her first name and told me that the lowest multiplan I could get would cost $238 with a 'one time' fee of $99= $337. I am quite skeptical about this as I don't even know the insurance company of which she speaks.
