what is the difference in a veterinary assistant an a veterinary nurse?

if there is any ? i am realy interested in working in a vets and would like to know what route would be best for me thankyou x i wam from the UK i wonder if it has a different job title over here?

The nurse would be the one giving shots/prescribing meds or any other action done for the pet. the assistant would be the one who might fill in when the nurse is not available, hold the pet to calm it or just be there as a stand by.

I've heard of an Animal Health Technician and a Veterinary Assistant, but I've not heard of the job title Veterinary Nurse. An AHT is an actual educational course with a certificate (USA) and a VA is usually a layperson trained to assist in that clinic or hospital.
