What to do after replacing my hard drive?

My laptop needs a new hard drive, and as I don't have the money to have it done professionally I plan on doing it myself. I'm fairly confident I can do the physical part of the job, but what do I do once I've got the new hard drive in? My laptop didn't come with a disk with Windows Vista on it, so how do I reinstall it? Can I make a boot up disk, and if so how do I do that? I've already got my documents, pictures, music, etc. backed up.
