What is an easy way to backup my website before I start editing it?

I had someone make my website for my business. They sort of went to a corporate job now and I'm left to try and figure out software to edit my site. Are there any easy ways to backup th website before I go and screw it up.

Log into your Control Panel and schedule a site backup. Have it sent to you in an email or download it from the folder by FTP. The file will be in a compressed format. Once downloaded to your computer, make sure you in-compress it into its own folder... More

WebReaper is a software that has the ability to copy your whole server. If it won't run, ask your webmaster for a backup on an external hard drive.

Use wget to pull all of your files down and then save them to your hard drive.

Download it using an ftp program like fetch or wsftp. Some web application even have them built in.
