The only thing sadder than a believer is one who is so unsteady in their beliefs that they feel the need to denigrate others.

Sunday morning Archbishop Mancini announced he was appointing Father Paul Abbass as local spokesperson for matters relating to the Diocese. Father Abbass is pastor of St. Mary Parish, Frenchvale as well as Episcopal Vicar and Director of Pastoral Services. He will continue on in those duties.
“I, like everyone else, was surprised and taken aback [by the decision],” Father Abbass said Monday morning.
“When I read the letter from the Bishop, and saw that it was after prayerful consideration and it was a personal decision, I accepted that,” the priest said.
He noted there was a general affection for Bishop Lahey among many parishioners so there is concern whether he is OK.
“The only thing I think is regret-table is that some think it is con-nected to the recent legal settlement,” Father Abbass said, referring to the settlement of a class action lawsuit against the Diocese.
The lawsuit concerned acts and allegations of sexual abuse by members of the clergy of the Diocese of Antigonish since Jan. 1, 1950. Bishop Lahey had signed a settlement agreement with lead plantiff Ronald Martin Aug. 7. Nova Scotia Supreme Court Justice David MacAdam approved the $13 million agreement Sept. 10.
“I think the Bishop himself would find it regrettable if people were trying to connect those two and suggest in any way that this puts that agreement at any risk. We are going forward. It is an issue of justice and reconciliation that we are determined to honour. It is categorically in no jeopardy whatsoever.”
In an earlier press release, Father Abbass said the settlement is “a legally binding document.”

Absolutely NOT I would not agree with that!
An unbeliever is just that - a lost soul who needs love & fellowshipping into the fold of God.
I think that's a terrible thing to say. Atheist's are just USING their right to CHOOSE and thus far in this life they have chosen to NOT believe...

Disagree.
Why: the false religion of blind-faith evangelicalism (and its sister, radical fundamentalism) is much worse because it uses the terminology of the gospel, but perverts it into a hate filled legalistic political agenda.
Talk about insidious idolatry: people worshipping the Bible instead of the God it points to.

Worse and Better are subjective terms. It all depends on your actions towards others, and so far believers have engaged into more wars than atheists.

I disagree! Sin is sin no matter what name you put on it. And all sin is equal in God's eyes. There is no bigger black sin or a little white lie! To Him they are all the same! WRONG!

Technically atheism isnt a religion, that would be like me calling myself a theists. If they narrowed it down to what type of atheists, then that is a religion.

there is no idolatry involved
and can you really compare a lack of belief in any god, to something like Jimmy Jones and the jonestown temple murders/suicides?

Actually, i would disagree a bit friend. A lot of the atheists I have met and talked to seem quite open minded and ready to accept the idea that there could be a God, just as soon as they have some validated proof to examine. Undoubtedly, in many cases, that will be when Jesus is standing directly in front of them talking to them face to face, but it's all good. Thanks for asking neighbor.

FALSE.....
Your basing everything on what your false book says...
Atheists use pure logic to decide what they are going to believe or not believe...
False Religions? And I could counter that by saying, who decides what is false? Your local Westboro Baptist Preacher? Your book that has no proof to back it up? Or the Pope who blames molested children for being molested>?
YA I guess people with out your GOD are the dumb ones...Ridiculous

I disagree that atheism is worse than a false religion (because it is a religion in itself).
I'm a Christian and I've talked to atheists and people that believe in many gods and people that believe in different gods, and I think that you'll find that God's view on the subject is that it really doesn't matter what they believe; it's either true or false. Since so many atheists reject testable truth, I would say that they're still in just as much trouble, whether they believe it or not, as somebody who says there is a creator but he's small enough for me to stick into a little box. I think in the end both will find out what their mistake is.

Not. Why would it be worse? I'm sorry, did I miss the part where atheists flew a plane into the world trade center, or when they started the crusades? How about the witch hunts? If you are going to make stupid statements, try supplementing them with some support. You know, to make yourself look less like an idiot. Are you familiar with the riddle of Epicurus? "Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?" Your "god", if he existed, would be immoral. Atheists are not trying to derail the constitution.

Atheism is about relying on facts & reality... Not believing in fairytales.
I like what Bill Mahr said about faith: 'faith is making a habit of not thinking; it's nothing to brag about.'
now, which one do you think is better?

Religion distorts many, many people. Atheism too. All religions are false religions, as long as someone can prove that one of those is the truth. I'm an ethical atheist, because i believe:
1. not do to others what you would not want them to do to you
2. in all things, strive to cause no harm
3. treat all living things with love, honesty, faithfulness and respect
4. do not overlook evil or shrink from administering justice, but always be ready to forgive wrongdoing freely admitted and honestly regretted
5. live life with a sense of joy and wonder
6. always seek to be learning something new
7. test all things; always check your ideas against the facts, and be ready to discard even a cherished belief if it does not conform to them
8. always respect the right of others to disagree with you
9. do not discriminate or oppress on the basis of sex, race or species
10. question everything.
So, do you think that "my religion" is worse than all of the others?
