For those of you in the military, how do you not get burnt out if you're trying to make a career out of it?
I know it's more physically demanding and sometimes harder on your body, so how do you make the best of it? especially if you already have a family. any tips or advice to help reach the 20 year mark?

most career military truly love the job. plus the retirement benefits are a great incentive to stick it out

well. funny, because i've been counting the days till i go home on leave. so, yeah...i take leave for a couple of weeks. usually twice a year, just to get away from the military environment. be on MY time and do MY thing, when I want. i look at it as, the sustainment of my family (wife and daughter) is riding on me... More

Same way anyone else has a career in any other field, with one big exception: The variety in the military makes for an interesting challenge. If you don't LOVE it, (whatever you are doing for a living), you will become burned out, no matter the career path you choose.
