How do guide dogs know which bus their owner wants to go on?

Like the other day I passed by this blind lady waiting for the bus and I know she was blind cause her dog had that guide thing on it, and I wondered how does the dog know which bus to take and which bus number takes her to the place she wants to go to??

Blind people who work with guide dogs navigate the bus system the same as blind people who use canes. The dog receives directions from the handler (left, right, forward, stop) and the dog's job is to guide the handler around certain obstacles, and stop and wait for further instructions at others. The dog doesn't....that is the handlers job. All the dog does is alert to obstacles in the path of travel and guide the handler around said obstacles; it is up to the handler to decide what to do after the alert.
