Do all branches of the military do credit checks for security clearance?

I have bad credit, mostly student loans, and I unfortunately found out that some or maybe all branches of the military do credit checks. I wanted to join the Air Force Reserve,but apparently they check your credit! Is there any branch that doesn't?

Credit checks for any security clearance is standard and you sign a release of information for credit and banking agencies when you submit your package. The Army was pretty lax on actually processing these packages though and for a while was not but instead just holding them at the base level rather than actually... More

They all check! They view a credit problem as making one an easy target for those offering money for info.

All branches do a credit check prior to granting a security clearance. If you want into the military then you just need to swallow your pride and get a job that doesn't require a security clearance. I know the Air Force looks down at bad credit. Keeping that in mind, you have the option of trying another branch... More

The same agency does the background checks for all branches of the military. The background check is exactly the same for all branches.
