Applying for a law clerk position. They are asking for a sample writing. What are they referring too?

They do not specify details on sample writing upon submitting resume. I am assuming a subject relating to the field's involvement? I am graduating with an associates degree in criminal justice and enrolled for bachelors degree in human services in criminal justice. Damn it. I will not take solicitation! You will be reported and deleted!
