1.Well it depends. The average Japanese man works, works, and works. The average Japanese man doesn't see his child until the weekends because he is out working. Most work around 7am and don't get home until 11pm.
Th average Japanese woman wakes up before the children maybe..6 or 7am and prepares breakfast and lunch for them to take to school. They do chores around the house, or maybe have a part-time job..but working is discouraged for a Japanese woman w/ kids so they usually get part time jobs. They run the house and are in charge of finances. Maybe hang out with friends a bit, prepare dinner, and such.
The average teenage kid will wake up around 7am go to school at 8 and don't get home until dinner time because they either have after school clubs/sports to attend to or cram school, or they are hanging out w/friends for a bit. They eat dinner study/homework, and bed.
2.They listen to a variety, depends on the person really. They have rock, pop, country, enka, jazz, classical and all sorts of music in Japan. It's just like here or any other country.

But if you're asking for just Japanese food it's mostly vegetables and meats. Japanese food is full of all sorts of mixture and they want you to be able to taste every flavor in there. Also it's got a lot of side dishes and soups and such. Fish, rice, and such are big. Japanese food also has some influence from countries like Portugal, Tempura, croquette, and bread are an example.
6.We have childrens day on may 5th to celebrate the happiness and innocence of children. They raise these flags shaped like fish called koinobori. There's also the festivals to celebrate the seasons, and New Years is huge there. Many stores will close for maybe 3 days and people spend time w.family. Setsubun celebrates first day of spring, and celebrate by doing a cleansing ritual out of tradition to scare off evil spirits(the ogre) by throwing soy beans at it.

Uhmm well I guess you mean popular japanese books? There is one called "A Dog of Flanders" it's a Belgium novel, but is VERY popular and widely read in Japan. It's a good book and movie. And then there's 1 liter of tears. It's a book published by this girl who suffered from an autoimmune disease and is her diary entries from when she first found out about it (around 14) and is written till shes near her death(around 23 I think) and it's about her struggles and such. It is a very popular book, and a very popular drama. Tale of Genji is a very old book and is known to be the worlds first novel.
