What's the economy going to be like over the next couple of years?

I just want someone to give me some facts and personal opinions on how they think the economy will improve/decline over the next few years. I'm going to be a college student in the fall and I expect to graduate around 2015. I'm hoping the economy will be better by then but if it is not I'd like to be prepared. Anyone who can provide some insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. (P.s. I'm going for Electrical Engineering (Specifcally Photonic/Laser Electro Optical Engineering) If you think this job has any decent amount of security in the coming years, please mention it in your reply. Thanks!)

The best guess it that the economy will behave as it has after the other recessions we have had since WWII, so 4 years from now it should be a lot better, see http://www.economagic.com/em-cgi/charter.exe/fedstl/unrate+1947+2009+0+1+1+290+545++0
