Whats the difference between dancers and choreographers?

What is the difference in their jobs?

A choreographer has an idea or concept and picks the music and makes up the steps for the other dancers to do including placement. He is also instrumental in both lighting and costume design. It is his vision that the dancers are doing. He is the dance equivalent of a movie director and writer combined.

dancers follow what the cheoreographers tell them to [cheoreograph]. Professional dancers arent exactly pro cheoreographers so sometimes they need cheoreographers
