What specific jobs do the Marines and the Navy do?

I am considering on joining one of the two branches and want to know what is better for my future. I am planning on becoming a mechanical engineer, which I believe is more Navy-related and was just curious what Marines do that differs from the Navy. I am also wondering if sailors also train with Marines at boot camp and what the Navy Seal does.

Your best approach would be to have a discussion with a Marine and Navy recruiter to understand their missions and how they fit into your plans for the future. You may get a lot of opinions here but you need to know what they have to offer to make a wise choice. Good luck!
