Can I get into advertising with my degree?

I have a bachelors in social work, but I am very interested in getting into advertising/marketing. I feel a lot of my skills and job functions may bot be directly related to this field but can be easily transferred over. What are my chances in landing a job in the advertising field without a directly related degree?
