Will my electronics degree help out with pay and getting a job when I get my certificate to work on Harleys?

I just finished getting an associates degree in electronics but now I want to get a certificate to work on Harley Davidson from Motorcycle Mechanics Institute. I was wondering if my Associates would help out with pay and even getting the job after I graduate from MMI in the field of Harley mechanics?

Not really. The electronics in the motorcycle and automotive industries are component replacement only. It's just not cost effective to repair the components at the dealership level.

You can help with the electronic ignition and the general wiring, but I think you'll get very bored. Satnav prob can't withstand the vibration, and DVD's are fitted yet. Ipads not included, H-pads anyone?

Maybe in troubleshooting problems, but that's about it.

If you have a solid electronics background, I would recommend going into another field of work that pays better. There are many other service based areas that pay much better than motorcycle wrenching. Consider an electronics mfg OEM or aerospace.

You can make a ton of money as an electrical engineer. Way more than you will working on Harleys. Just do what I did. I got a job as a mechanical engineer and I built my own chopper in my spare time while I was in college. I've toyed with the fantasy of going to MMI, but I'd be taking a huge pay cut. Not worth it when I can make money and just wrench on my own bike.

What is the average price for a motorcycle paint job? Curious. Lowest and highest price would be nice, too.

I've been in advertising since 1992 and I'm getting burnt, fast. It's not that I hate the career; I just think that being able to incorporate my love of all things motorcycle would get me excited again. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've primarily been on the agency side as an AE and buyer. Ad sales is a consideration. Writing would be great, but I have little to no experience. Any suggestions? It doesn't necessarily have to be advertising related. Secondary question - are there websites out there specifically for finding "motorcycle careers"? I know about "motorcycle industry jobs". Any other good ones? Thanks.
