How do should I answer this question on a job application?

It states: Will you give voluntary consent for a third party to conduct a background investigation, reference and/or credit check, employment verification and a pre-employment physical (if the position requires a physical)? Should I say YES or NO.

I would say yes, if you say no it implies you have something to hide. If the position requires a physical which you refuse then the employer will not offer you the job. Good luck.

If you say NO, there is no point continuing with the application as you are refusing permission for background checks and the procuring of references

If you have nothing to hide, say yes. If you say no, then, they won't even consider you for the position anyway.
