securitas guards in Job centres what is that all about seriously?

Having stopped work to care for my wife i occasionally have to visit the Jobcentre , and find myself wondering at the security staff posted on sentry duty in there , also the unqualified advice they dish out to people attending . I also find it odd that when i visit the Bank or the Post office there arent any guards there, surely with the thousands of pounds behind the counter they would be more deserving than your Job centre . So why are these guards in Job centres ? Does a person become upon unemployment a potentially dangerous individual likey to commit violent and abusive actions ? How does it make those who are out of work feel ? Ok you may argue that they are there to protect the staff , but i take it these staff go out of the jobcentre without security guards escorting them , indeed i would argue it actually presents to those visiting that Jobcentre is a volatile and dangerous place and thus encourages what it aims to prevent . Why does being out of work make you a threat to civil servants it is laughable , Why up until roughly 6 years ago were they not present in Jobcentres ?
