Is it common practice for a manager to have their secretary set up job interviews?
I wonder sometimes if managers are extremely busy. A couple of managers are wanting me to schedule numerous interviews for job candidates over the next two weeks. On top of that they want me to be the person escorting them as well. Does this happen a lot? If they really wanted someone to come on board so badly, couldn't they do some of this themselves?

It's common practice. The function of the secretary or PA is to support the manager. Since managers are usually paid more than secretaries, it makes good economic sense for managers to devolve some functions to their secretaries and save their own time for specialist management work... More

Yes. It's very common. Especially if that manager is a busy person. The interview will either be set up by their secretary or by someone in HR.
