Why are young white women in America so unmotivated to be thin and fit?

After traveling to regions of the world that have mostly thin women, young white women in America and other Anglo countries do a poor job in being feminine. They are the most guilty of it. Instead they try to be one of the guys by eating the grossest foods, and shouting so loud during sports games. Girls in Russia ,Brazil, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Ukraine, and the Balkans notice all are female model producing nations for a reason. They maintain feminity even when they are smoking.

Why can't American girls do that ? Flab is not sexy.

American girls are themselves and free to do as they please..thats why. Why do they have to act "feminine" just to please people like you? I believe its way more important to be happy with who you are and be comfortable with yourself .I also dont understand why you think white american females are all fat..? There is weight issues in any country you go and i think there are tons of pretty thin women in the United states. Your probably a sexist mother effferrrrrrr.

Why white young women? There are fat people all over the world no matter of what color or gender. If you think only an american can outeat or outdrink a man or shout loud in a sports bar, you really didn't spend much time in Czech or Slovak Republic (from my experience Brazilian and Russian girls do a great job as well) . How can you tell who's white in US and some of the countries you mentioned, anyways?

Rudeness and shallow behavior isn't sexy either (at least not to me!). Some people may find "flab" "sexy" and some people may find bones poking out as "sexy".

Anyway, how about we stop basing femininity and masculinity off of looks....And in ways of thinking. Why feminine and masculine in the first place? Oh, I remember, because society says it has to be that way. But since we are what we are today, a world that is obsessed with dividing the "two genders" into set molds, I prefer to live with a balance of both. I've seen women, straight and lesbian or whatever sexuality, of all races, with very narrow hips, small to no breasts and an otherwise "masculine" physique. I've seen men, straight and gay or whatever sexuality, of all races, with larger than average hips and an otherwise "feminine" physique. There are women born as men and men born as women physiologically and psychologically.

It's sad people define it in such ways as "skinny" or "voluptuous" as being feminine because then it's claiming women who are not voluptuous are not/less feminine or women that are not thin are not/less feminine. What the hell is that thinking? Same goes for judging the "male" physique. Why do people attack each others "femininity" or "masculinity" in that way? Culture and society can piss off in that sense.

The same reason as to why young white in America. Its the rise in junkfood.

Your question is sexist and one sided to only ridiculing women that way.

"white women in America and other Anglo countries do a poor job in being feminine" - That is sexist.

Slobs and pigs aren't masculine either.

Jackie - Are you a man pretending to be a woman? I never thought so but your reaction to this question proves it.

Jackie - See my answer. My answer is fair as a male feminist because it states that men are slobs as well as women. By you seeing it as a one sided argument (also blaming and "mocking" your own gender which I am not guilty of) makes me think you are a man or one in a woman's body.

Jackie - Yes but you see this is a biased question.

Jackie - You shouldn't have agreed to it this biased question because facts state that men AND women are fatter... not just women. And at least I don't blame and "mock" my gender and say it is less skilled than the opposite gender.

I disagree, I think compared to people of other nations,Americans are much fatter, not just white women.

I think it's horrible. I don't like to see it, but we are really going down hill. We don't look after ourselves even a fraction as much as ethnic girls do. I.e Asian, Black, Eastern European etc. Not just physically, even our attitude seems to look more at home in a toilet. Then we get all irate when we see that men don't like us anymore. To the point where we start making excuses like "ethnic girls are prepared to be slaves", or something to that affect (which is actually quite racist if you ask me). We are not doing anything to help ourselves and blame men for feeling repulsed by us, even though we have become such bone idle slobs.

Larry2: Excuse me? In what way does my observation of the direction we have taken prove i am a man? I think you are just making excuses. It is not a crime to highlight a very clear and visible problem.

Larry2: Every rant you make is vilifying men, in fact your answer to this question only refers to men as slobs and pigs. You make no attempt to stand up for your own gender, so could i not say that you are a woman? This question was about women, so i answered it accordingly and appropriately. I also have not seen this problem as much in men. So again my answer is perfectly acceptable. It is you who brought men into this question where it is not appropriate.

ALL of your questions are biased. Or would you like me to remind you?

But none of that matters because this question addresses a very real problem which i would like to talk about. A problem which doesn't refer to men. So even if this was a biased question, how does that make me a man?

Larry2: Firstly, you mock your gender all the time by calling them pigs. Secondly, i am not mocking my gender by saying that we have less talents, i am simply stating FACTS. I refuse to intentionally lower my intelligence by replacing facts with opinions just because the facts might hurt your feelings.

For the same reason that men like you are unsophisticated and have no interest in being successful or educated. Actually thin wasn't considered beautiful until very recently. For all societies in history treasured large women, because a thin women was considered ugly and unhealthy. Roman and greek artwork prove my point, for the very Goddess of beauty herself was large.

The mayans used to sacrifice skinny women, because they thought skinny women were useless.

Most people who are thin, are not at their healthy weight. Also you should know that women need extra fat, because they are created to bear children. So fat is strongly needed for women, otherwise both them and the children will die.....

I am at a healthy weight, and I am happy bout it. When I was skinny I wasn't able to focus on my education, and now I can. A full women is beautiful, for she can do so much more with her life. Sorry, but I disagree with your logic.
Answered By: Wisdom - 7/4/2010
It is a question that deserves serious inquiry.

I'll throw out some explanations.

High Fructose Corn Syrup. It's good to fatten pigs, not so good to feed healthy people.

It could be our racial diversity. Many of us as European mixed with Native American. We have the European taste for potatoes and pastries, and a Native American metabolism set to a very spare diet. Some Native Americans (and Yeminite Jews with a similar problem) have been able to control their weight and avoid life threatening diabetes by returning to a traditional Native American/Yemenite diet.

It could be our lifestyle. We all have cars. We rarely walk. We are educated. We lie around reading books and working on computers. We live a fast pace. No leisurely walks from office to library and back taking up half our billable research time for us. We pull it up online, or send an assistant. We get our exersize in gyms. Our air is polluted, and we don't all have pleasant space to walk, even if we have the time. Sports are something we fit into busy schedules too.

Just because Eastern European girls are smaller does not mean they are healthier or more fit. They seem not to retain their feminine petite size into middle age. The photo compilations some people put on YouTube to show how "beautiful" foreign girls are do not show beauty as much as the smallness of youth, with small, frail, flabby bodies that will soon turn to fat or heft, and tell tale signs of ill health covered with makeup. "They maintain femininity even when they are smoking" says quite a lot. Smokers do not smell very feminine, and that wrinkle moustache is not very feminine either. The haggardness is visible in even the twenty year olds.

Feminine behavior...this is cultural. American women settled a new frontier. European literature from the last two centuries sometimes bores us. Russian women and their histrionics, English women and their courtship intrigues, aside from Collette's Vagabond, what did French women even do anyway? We know we were farming and ranching and planting, working with our men because our labor was needed, and the rewards for that labor, for the first generations of us, were large holdings of land, with beautiful vistas, immense natural resources. So...our girls ride horses and climb rocks and run and boat and ski, and skin our knees and yell about it, and some get rowdy about baseball and football and rodeo. Or church. There's an American variety of churchgoer that takes a scripture about "joyful noise" very seriously. They yell and shout and whoop in church--the shushed dark pews where little old ladies murmer their prayers were built for European foreigners, war brides and such.

What is happening to us is not funny. We are deprived of open space and probably the strenuous exercise we need to be healthy. It is no coincidence that in the nineties, after the go go eighties that made so many people rich, so many sensible people invested their wealth into downsized businesses like bakeries. A lot of flabby academics have regained their muscle tone baking bread or growing medicinal herbs or recreating ranches as therapy for troubled youth or disabled people.

If we thought poor girls from Eastern Europe had the secret to beauty and fitness, believe me, we would be importing you this country as diet and fitness instructors. I don't see that happening. What I have seen is girls being trafficked as brides for unstable men, or lured with promises of becoming models, and they end up as prostitutes without documentation to resettle as legitimate immigrants, or in domestic violence shelters working in food service or as hotel maids--even women with professional degrees. They don't stay sexy long, unless you have a f****h for stocky legs, hairnets and yellow rubber gloves.

Iranian women stay beautiful even through the poverty period of resettling, culture shock, and acclimation. I think it is because they care for their souls as much as their physical beauty. They are truly feminine, beautiful women through and through, andthey don't try to sell their beauty. I wonder why American girls, of the crass and harsh variety, do not see the beauty of this kind of womanhood and try to find it in themselves. Some do. The numbers of American girls who fall in love with the gentler sort of Near Eastern man continue to increase. In time our men may gentle down and stop this foolish chasing after money too, or stand up like men and form another worker's rights movement, or both.

I had just graduated with a Bachelors in Women and Gender Studies and have been applying to numerous positions within and outside Women's Studies. I loved that major with a passion but it seems as though many of the organizations are limited in terms of money and cannot afford to pay their employees. Therefore, I have also looked into administrative jobs and front desk positions. I received a call from one employer who questioned my degree. He said "Are you not educated in positions to obtain with your degree? You went to college, majored in women's studies, to work as an office assistant?"...I then told him, "If you were not interested in hiring me or interviewing me, you would not have responded to my resume and cover letter." I then explained that I have worked as an Office Assistant in a previous position for over 1 year. Anyway, tomorrow I am meeting for an interview and I would like to know what to say to one who says or asks what that employer asks? What is a professional response?

Basically- no degree, although I have tried completing one in the past and stopped because of physical and mental health issues which were overwhelming to deal with along with going to classes full time. I'm not stupid and I am quite articulate. I am 23 and have only worked for about two years retail in high school and stopped working to go to university. I worked a few months in 2010 retail after I dropped out but it was only a seasonal position, and the only reason why I have not been able to constantly work is because of mental health issues. I had also tried going back to community college during my free time since i left university in 2008/9 and I had panic attacks while in community college, which made my anxiety worse from then on. Well recently I met a good doctor and he prescribed me some meds that are stabilizing my moods and I feel the best I've felt in years, and I'm ready to work. Thing is, I don't know how to get a job now since I've spent literally years being depressed and anxious doing nothing. I don't really have anything to put on my resume, and I never finished my AA degree either. All I've done is cashiering and although I do the job well and I get promoted easily when I do these jobs because I'm a hard worker and I try to go above and beyond what they ask of me,which is the attitude I have no matter what kind of work I'm doing as long as I'm getting paid. But I hate cashiering because it's too easy and I want a job that is more interesting. Any suggestions for me on how to get a job that is NOT Retail with the type of background I have right now? I also realize I have to go to college to get certain types of jobs, I am talking about what I can do right here right now.

For the career fair I'm thinking of wearing just my nice shirt and a skirt with low heels. My reasoning being it's approachable and attractive without going overboard since the career fair hosts are mostly younger male recent grads. I want to be remembered but not intimidating. For my interviews I was thinking pants, suit jacket (power suit). My reasoning being it'll be older execs and HR people (mostly women) so less sexy with the pants but more powerful with the suit jacket. What do you think?!

Advances in technology will soon cause 70-80?nemployment in the USA. How will all those millions of people eat, then? That will lead to a conflict between Social Market-ists (gov't imposed wealth redistribution) and Free Market-ists (no gov't imposed wealth redistribution). First, the Luddite Fallacy. It WAS valid UNTIL machines could do most human mental functions better than humans. Some experts are already saying this, but generally it seems like the American Society and its leaders are proceeding in utter ignorance. You probably know about all the technologies that now exist or will soon be up & running, & which will massively reduce the need for human labor in the economy, thus MAKING MOST HUMANS UNNECESSARY to the economy. Some facts: (1) A couple weeks ago all the toll booth workers on the Golden Gate Bridge were all dismissed because the gov't bought a machine to handle everything. (2) Computer voice recognition already exists, in programs such as Siri and Google Voice and others. But very soon these programs will be so much better. Virtually all the human-staffed customer service call centers will disappear very soon. Human office receptions will be mostly eliminated. (3) McDonald's already has a prototype version of their fast food restaurant with NO human workers on site. (4) Wal-Mart & other retailers already have plans for stores with NO human cashiers. (5) Google's driverless cars and trucks will soon eliminate most drivers of commercial trucks & taxi cabs. (6) IBM's computer "Watson" defeated the best human players on "Jeopardy" about a year ago. Watson had to hear and understand host Alex Trebeck's spoken speech just like the human contestants. IBM created Watson to replace Medical Doctors. The plan is that nurses and nurses practitioners will take data from patients (temperate, blood pressure, reports of pains, etc.), enter that into Watson, and Watson will order tests and make prescriptions and treatment plans. Unlike human doctors, Watson will KNOW EVERYTHING about medical science. Doctor errors currently kill about 100,000 patients per year in hospitals alone. Patients will DEMAND to be diagnosed by Watson (or other equivalent) & have a prescription by Watson, since studies will show that patients fare so MUCH better when Watson is their “doctor,” and the cost will be MUCH less. (7) Computers are now replacing the lawyers that formerly had to spend massive hours read through massive amounts of documents turned over to the opposing side in "discovery" in civil lawsuits. Documents now are turned over in digital form, and computers search in seconds them looking for key words and phrases. (8) Soon publishers will stop printing books on paper. Everyone will have an e-Reader device. That will be the END of every physical library and bookstore. (9) Soon computers will be able to general characters in movies that are indistinguishable from real humans. Not only actors will lose their jobs, but costume people, makeup people, scene construction people, camera operators, key grips, electricians, lighting experts, etc. (10) New machines are replacing the humans who pick vegetables in fields. (11) New machines are replacing human security guards. (12) Human airplane pilots, both in the military and in commercial service, will soon be extinct. The FAA has already approved testing of drone planes for commercial transportation of non-human cargo. (13) Most trades on Wall Street are already being made by computers. (14) The U.S. Postal Service is doomed. Paying thousands of people to drive around in little trucks to deliver little printed pieces of paper to each household each day is going to seem more and more like idiocy. (15) Most of the reviews and analysis currently being done by human accountants, actuaries, tax experts, and other financial analysts and consultants will be done must better, more more quickly, and much more accurately, by computers. (16) Web sites already are using computer programs to write the text for stories that report on sports games. The program integrates the statistics from the game into a story text that seems to have been written by a human being. (17)Most education at the college and high school level will soon be done online, eliminating a massive number of workers. Thus, GIGANTIC UNEMPLOYMENT, in the range of 70-80?is coming soon to the USA. This will result in Rio De Janeiro type slums all over the USA. That will result in calls for gov't wealth redistribution, which will result in Armed Revolution, Counter-Revolution, concentration camps, & Latin American-style death squads. The rich and ultra-rich are never going to let any government get control of their wealth. Huge bloody CONFLICT is coming. * * * Politicians keep repeating the old canard that the solution is to train and retrain Americans for the "jobs of the future." But they are either morons or are lying, since anyone who thinks about it can easily see that even if every American worker had an engineering degree or a computer science degree, the economy just doesn't need that many engineers and computer scientists. * * * * * * * Why don't more people see this? Why aren't more people talking about this? We are facing soon a catastrophe in the USA (and in other places) on par of the plagues in Europe that killed half of the population in certain areas, and on par with the depopulation in Europe brought about by WWI and WWII. Sure, you can just repeat the Luddite Fallacy, and proclaim that the economy will always create enough jobs for most people to survive. But there is no law of economics that says that any law of economics will always operate the same. Laws of economics are not like the laws of physics. Economies and life forms can and do evolve in fundamental ways that make former economic models and ways of life obsolete. I'm sure the last tribe of Neanderthals were certain that nothing was ever going to change, right before the Homo Sapiens swooped down on them, chased them into a dead end canyon were other Homo Sapiens were lying in wait with big clubs. * * * * * * * * * In the past the Luddite Fallacy was valid since machines always needed the mental acuity that only human operators could provide, and machines frequently needed maintenance by skilled human hands and minds. But now machines have mental functions that equal or surpass what humans can provide in most work functions. And computers aren't so much repaired anymore as just thrown away and replaced. How many cell phone repair shops have you ever seen? Even most laptop computers are replaced rather than repaired. More and more laptop computers never even need to be repaired for years and years. In short, when the economy has no use for most Americans, all h*ll is going to brake loose, & that's coming soon. * * * * *
