Why are there approximately equal numbers of males and females?

I mean the evolutionary reason, not the chromosomal reason.

there's not. im not sure on the exact numbers, but i know there are a lot more women in the world than men.

You cant answer using evolutionary reason without chromosomes since DNA is the foundation of evolution. Genetically, its 50/50 chance of being male or female. Although statistically, there are more women, and one interesting factor are wars...
