Do you need a degree in finance to become a CFA?
I'll be graduating with an accounting degree minor in economics from Baruch in 1.5 years. Was wondering if I can go straight into a finance job like analyst or investment banking and then pursue a CFA and MBA rather than go the CPA route. Does this happen regularly? Is it possible?

With an accounting degree it will be very hard to break into an i-banking job. My advice would be to go the accounting route right out of school, or perhaps as an analyst at a small financial firm, then get your CFA. Once you have the CFA you have a much better shot at breaking into a top financial firm. That said... More

an MBA is a Masters in Business Administration, you need a bachelors before you can get a masters and a CFA requires a Bachelors or equivalent.

Yes, you can do it. However since you are getting the BS in accounting it would be best if you start with a CPA firm when you graduate, work 3-4 years, then go for the MBA. As for the CFA, you have to pass the test to get certified. Same with the CPA... More
