How to get rid of wasps?

Recently, I came home from holiday to find that there was now a nest of wasps in a old bucket in my garden. Any ideas on how to get rid of them? Any help would be appreciated

my neighbour found a nest on her apple tree, she called the pest control, but it took them ages to get back to her with the date, so she just took a can of Raid (for house insects) and sprayed the nest. They all died and never bothered her again. sorry if it's a bit drastic, but it's from recent experience and it works... More

gavira is right, RAID works wonders. If you don't have access to Raid, believe it or not, a spray bottle filled with warm water and dish liquid, will also take care of the problem.

Yes you can use a 15 dust or 10 dust at garden store. It's white comes in a bag. It is white powder and you spread it over the area. They will never come back again use a mask and shower after. But best way is wait till early morning or late evening and spray the nest with any hornet wasp spray. I usually soak the nest... More

just got RSI of 2 nestsmyself , i waited till dark to make sure they had all gone back into the nest and used wasp powder , , next day found another nest under roof tiles , also half my street had them , but got rid of them in the end ,
